Kerala, a state on India’s tropical Malabar Coast, has nearly 600km of Arabian Sea shoreline. It’s known for its palm-lined beaches and backwaters, a network of canals. Inland are the Western Ghats, mountains whose slopes support tea, coffee and spice plantations as well as wildlife. National parks like Eravikulam and Periyar, plus Wayanad and other sanctuaries, are home to elephants, langur monkeys and tigers.
DETAILED TOUR ITINERARY |
DAY 1 : Munnar Arrival at Cochin. Then to Munnar. This beautiful hill station was once the summer capital of the British Government in India. The never ending vast expanse of tea plantations and round the year moderate climate makes it a little haven for visitors. On the way visit the very famous Cheeyappara and Valara waterfalls. Evening at leisure. Overnight stay at Munnar. |
DAY 2 : Munnar After breakfast to Echo point and Mattupetty Dam. Speed boating facilities are available here. The dam is flanked by forests and vast expanse of grass land on one side and the Kundala tea plantation on the other. Afternoon visit Rajamala- house of the highly endangered mountain goats – the Nilgiri Thars (Rajamala is closed from Jan 21st to Mar 31st, 2019). Overnight stay at Munnar. |
DAY 3 : Thekkady Morning proceed to Thekkady. By noon at Thekkady. Then proceed to Periyar lake around which the sanctuary is built, for boating (cost extra). This is the only sanctuary in India where you can have the unique experience of viewing the wild life at close quarters from the safety of a boat. You can also enjoy a plantation tour covering tea,coffee, cardamom, pepper, cinnamon etc. Stay in Thekkady. |
DAY 4 : Kumarakom Morning after breakfast drive to Kumarakam Alleppey. By noon check in at the hotel . Afternoon do a couple of hours motor boat cruise (optional- cost not included) through the the legendary backwaters of Kerala. On the way you will witness a full range of lifes and activities and some mind boggling sceneries. Evening at leisure. Overnight at Kumarakam Alleppey. |
DAY 5 : Poovar After breakfast proceed to Poovar and check into the hotel. Poovar is the confluence of a river, backwaters and beach. Visit to Poovar beach in the evening. Overnight at Poovar. |
DAY 6 : Poovar Full day at leisure in Poovar. If Interested you can indulge in Ayurvedic rejuvination treatment or can go for a boating in the backwaters of Poovar (cost extra). Overnight at Poovar. |
DAY 7 : Trivandrum Airport Morning after breakfast proceed to Trivandrum airport / railway station for onward journey. |
